Final Update

Hi all,

It feels like a long time since we have started working on our multiplayer shooter game, Rift of the Realms. In the final few days, myself and Shashank Kumar Sukumar Singh have been able to put the finishing touches on the project. We hope to be able to continue to enhance and improve the game in the future.

To begin with, we've added fog into the dark realm. Using Unity's particle system, we've introduced a fog material, that enhances the feeling of being in the Dark Realm. Additionally, Shashank Kumar Sukumar Singh has introduced lightning bolts that go across the sky, adding a striking element to the red skies.

UI Expansion

We have expanded upon the UI in the lobby to include some additional features:

  • A controls panel showing the game controls.

  • A options panel. Here you can set the volume of the game. The brightness slider isn't functional yet.

We have also included a leaderboard. For now, it is a mock of how an actual leaderboard would appear as it is using placeholder data for the silver coins. It is using the player names for all the players in the game currently however the coin counts are still only held locally not across PUN.

Finally, we have had time to record and edit the a 2 min video demo showcasing the game.

Though this might be the last blog update, any progress can still be viewed from my GitHub

That's all the updates thanks for reading and following the blog!

Thanks,
Molly
